Key Issues
The neighbourhood renewal unit has been responsible for implementing
the Neighbourhood renewal strategy. This enforces the Governments
vision of narrowing the gap between deprived neighbourhoods and
the rest of the country, so that within 10 to 20 years time no one
should be seriously disadvantaged by where they live.
The Local Strategic partnership has a responsibility to steer this
vision and has been given additional funding (neighbourhood renewal
funding), to act as a catalyst to improve on the following areas
where disadvantage and inequality is most prevalent; education,
worklessness, crime (community safety), education, health, housing
and transport.
Nottinghamshire Black Partnership administered a focussed away
day with the board and the staff, to evaluate which of the Neighbourhood
renewal targets was of highest priority to the communities which
it was advocating on behalf of. It was clear that in terms of inequality
there were issues that affected the communities across the board.
However there were certain areas which needed particular attention
which would also have a knock on effect on the other Floor Targets.
The areas of particular focus areeducation, health and crime.
These issues are explored further in this pages sub-catagories listed
in the main menu.
