NBP has been able to influence NRF spend on the following project, to be delivered through community organisations. We are looking to develop further partnerships and delivery mechanisms as and when the opportunities arise.

African Caribbean Support Teaching Staff

The aim of this project is to recruit and train African Caribbean Support Teaching Staff. The Support Teaching Staff would be employed to work in targeted Secondary Schools and would work specifically, but not exclusively, with African Caribbean boys aged 11 – 16.

The Teaching staff will undertake the relevant Teacher Training, and it is envisaged that 50% would go on to Qualified Teacher Status. To compliment this approach the Support Teaching Staff will have placements within African Caribbean voluntary and community sector organisations that provide educational services, both Supplementary and After School.

This project (which received £100, 000 NRF), will be ongoing, and if successful, it is envisaged that it will be funded via the mainstream - the LEA and participating schools.
